The Studio
A home should be calm before it is impressive. Every piece we make begins with the grain of the wood and ends with the life lived around it.
The Practice
01
Woodlife Studios is a design-and-make practice working in solid wood. From our own workshop we deliver architecture-led interiors, furniture and millwork for private homes across India — each piece drawn once, made by hand, and built to be lived with for decades.
The studio is based in India, working with a small number of clients each year across interiors, furniture, millwork.

Philosophy
02
We design less,
and make it better.
Few pieces, resolved completely. A room by Woodlife holds four things done well, not fourteen done quickly.
Heritage
03
Drawn at the desk, proven at the bench.
Woodlife began at the workbench — with timber, drawings and the habit of checking one against the other daily. The studio grew from making furniture into making rooms, and from rooms into houses, without ever leaving the workshop behind. Every detail we draw is one our own hands can build.
Vision & Mission
04
Houses that hold their quiet.
We want the homes we make to feel inevitable — as if they had always stood there — and to be handed down, not renovated away. Our work is to design and build calm, permanent spaces: architecture led by light, interiors led by material, and technology that serves the household without asking for attention.
Principles
05
Six things we hold to.
01
Calm before impressive
A room must rest the eye before it can delight it.
02
Material before decoration
Choose the material first; let the room follow.
03
Light is a material
Every elevation is drawn against the sun it will actually receive.
04
Draw once
Resolve the detail on paper before anything is cut.
05
Make what we design
The workshop keeps the drawings honest.
06
Stay with the house
Wood moves; we return after the first monsoon.
